At the Gates... Reform... for Wacken 08

More reformations....

Grotesque and Liers in Wait were good, the first At the Gates album was ok... but then their Gothemburg melodicness set in.....

They're playing also one date in the UK (but it's £85 )


who will be the next melodick band to reform for Wacken I wonder......?

never liked At The Gates, Slaughter of the soul supposed to be a cult album means no shit to me. their guitarist ended up in The Haunted who completely blow so screw 'em.

I found the first albums "interesting"... For it was somekind of "techno death"... But isn't it a Death metal forum?

I'm a huge fan of AT THE GATES, especially their older stuff (first MCD and two first albums). I think people focus more on "Slaughter of the soul" because it's catchier.
I find pity people don't listen to their old stuff simply because it has a shitty sound. The work of composition is awesome, melodic for sure, but that doesn't sound cheesy.

As for their reunion, well I don't give a fuck. Alas, it seems money is the law.

Jim: According to what I felt in some DEEP VEIN songs, I'm not surprised you're a fan of old AT THE GATES... In the future maybe you'll evolve towards something more complexly composed like they did... ?

I listened to some old albums of ATG few years ago and it wasn't bad... Quite interesing for the "original"/ "techno death" approach, but not something I would play too often... And "Slaughter of the soul" = boring...

Gab: When I told people we were influenced by AT THE GATES they immediately thought about "Slaughter..." or "Terminal spirit disease", and when I mentioned the albums released before they didn't know what I was talking about...funny, isn't it?
