Really? Personally, I think creativity is slowly fading away little by little since a "couple" of years... I'm afraid we have fallen in the depths... I hope the forthcoming album will show I am wrong...
Did you like "Heretic" Keegan?

I hear what you are saying, "Alters Of Madness" sure sounds best to me but at least they are still playing decent death metal.

As for "Heretic" I have honestly yet to even hear it.....How is it?

I'll try and track it down. I don't download at all so hopefully someone I trade with has a copy Cool

I trust your opinion so I can't see myself buying a copy from the local record store anyday soon.

Florida-based death metal veterans MORBID ANGEL have issued the following update:

"World Management and MORBID ANGEL would like to let the fans know that rumors about Pedro 'Pete' Sandoval's [drums] back surgery are, in fact, true. Pete has suffered for a long time with a deteriorating disc problem. He was in daily pain and needed to have this done. He has recently been treated by a laser back surgery specialist in Tampa, Florida. He is currently in rehabilitation and doing well.

"Pete is part of our family and the band's history and we all wish him well and a full recovery. Unfortunately, this type of injury, subsequent surgery and rehab cannot be rushed and it will take ample time for him to hopefully be back behind his drums again and out on tour with MORBID ANGEL.

"The band is moving forward on their next recording with Tim Yeung (DIVINE HERESY, ALL THAT REMAINS, NILE, HATE ETERNAL, VITAL REMAINS).

"Currently the guys are in rehearsals in Tampa putting their finishing touches on the songs for the new album, which is slated for later this year, with subsequent touring worldwide."

I think MA are fried.

I have some distant hopes that this new album will have a more organic sound like Formulas, but with Yeung in the band there's not many chances for it. it's gonna be another trigged blast fest with Peter Steele... errr, I mean David Vincent on top.

can't wait for GORGUTS' come back.

It's official, MA entered Erik Rutan's studio to record their new album. Tim Yeung will be Sandoval's temporary replacement.

Curious to see how Dave Vincent sounds these days...
What label are they on these days? Didn't they leave Earache?

not 100% sure but I think they signed to NUclear Blastsaw them in late 2008 and David Vincent sounded exactly like he did on Domination.

in all seriousness, that might be an equally if not more relevant question than "what did you listen to during the making of the new record?"

Florida-based death metal veterans MORBID ANGEL have set "Illud Divinum Insanus" as the title of their eagerly awaited new album, due on June 7 (one day earlier internationally) via Season Of Mist. Prior to the release of the album, a single for the song "Nevermore" will be out on May 16 as seven-inch vinyl and digital download. The B side will be another song from the album, remixed by COMBICHRIST.

"Illud Divinum Insanus" was recorded at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida with engineer Erik Rutan (former MORBID ANGEL guitarist and producer for such bands as CANNIBAL CORPSE and GOATWHORE). The new CD will be the band's first to be recorded without longtime drummer Pedro "Pete" Sandoval, who last year underwent back surgery for a deteriorating disc problem. Filling in for him on a temporary basis is Tim Yeung, who has previously played with DIVINE HERESY, ALL THAT REMAINS, NILE, HATE ETERNAL and VITAL REMAINS).

Do they have any demo material left to use for the albums? The albums I most enjoyed were the first 3 + Formulas, which all had quite a few demo tracks on them. Maybe they could play Funerals? Or some of the Incubus material?

I think they already used most, or at least the best of demo materials...

Songs of Incubus were composed by another guy, so I doubt...
