Your computer/ Os

What kind of OS and computer do you use?

Pc? Mac? Something else?
Laptop? Heavy old styled Pc box?

I'm on windows XP since years, it seemed to be the most stable solution, and easier to get decent compatibility with many softwares.

I tried windows 7 recently and it doesn't seem bad, better than what Vista seemed... But I might need a newer, more powerful, Pc for this...

Also installed a newer version of Linux/ Ubuntu and it doesn't seem bad. Quite easy to use and not too heavy... Didn't use big softwares though.
Just a bit bored I can't easily put a Linux client in a Win 2003 domain for Active directory and stuffs...

Vista on a laptop. sucks for daltonians and it's so heavy it's almost as slow as my old win 98 SE. real player and movie maker work quite bad, opening media player takes forever.

I would advice you to install windows XP!
Things would be much faster!
And most of users still use XP, so you wouldn't have problems... (Thinking internet, softwares... Unless you bought some soft designed for Vista exclusively)

I didn't even know it was possible to install another system on a laptop... but i guess i'd have to buy XP, and it would be impossible to move back to Vista afterwards because I don't have any physical support of it (no drivers)

what I also dislike on Vista is the fact that everything's automatic, like "a new version of x is available, click to install" or also "your safeguard hasn't been effected since x, click to start now"... etc etc, it's kinda fascist in my book, why piss people off with such messages if you don't want to download IE 8?

Mainly a PC with XP. I had a laptop with Vista but it broke recently, I hate vista. I bought a new laptop with windows7 on it but I am not liking it much at this point, too much like Vista. It's a pain in the ass installing new programs and things, all those windows popping up saying you have to be an admistrator, are you sure you want to install, etc. so even though I have a new laptop I am usually on my old desktop with XP because I like it better.

Agreed about all the stupid messages, too. I don't care about the new shit it wants me to download. Argh.

a laptop with xp, thats about 6 years old, i use it for recording, but it sucks cause the cdburner doesnt work, and it doesnt recognize my flashdrives, and i dont have internet at home, so i cant send em to myself.

I currently own a Pc with both Windows Xp and Windows 7.

Also a cheap Emachines laptop on windows 7 starter.

Should we speak about portable phones? Some are almost portable computers...
