VOICES FROM THE DARKSIDE Webzine (Ger)
It's not much more than a year ago that I had a tape version of this release on my plate. This release means the demo tape of a still too unknown band from France named OSSUAIRE. Originally released in 2005, this demo recording still sounded forcing and convincing when I heard them for the first time. Taking into concern that “Le Troubadour Nécrophageophile” was already about ten years old back then, it is not exaggerated to use the term “timeless” in this case. Brutal Death Metal with a certain bias for the old heroes of US Death Metal of the time around 1990 was the game OSSUAIRE played on “Le Troubadour Nécrophageophile”. The short songs were a little bit technical, but not too technical or complex. Listening to the four songs (and one fine intro) again even was a bigger joy now. Songs like the neckbreaking title track or the brilliantly grooving 'Le Fléau' haven't lost a tiny bit of intensity. So, why am I writing words of praise again? It's just because “Le Troubadour Nécrophageophile” was just re-released again, this time on CD, just the way it was originally done by the band. Everybody who doesn't own a tape deck anymore should now be able to dig this gem. And as I already stated, OSSUAIRE are worth to be checked out. CANADIAN ASSAULT Webzine (Can)
This is a re-release of the French band, Ossuaire’s 2005 debut demo, which originally was released on a limited run, of only 100 pieces on cd. This is my first encounter with the band, who are apparently still active. But one thing is for sure, they are not a very prolific band, having formed in 2000, and since then they have released a total of 11 songs over three releases in sixteen years! So how is the music on here? It is some solid death metal, in vein of stuff like old Morbid Angel, Bolt Thrower, Cannibal Corpse, Immolation and that style of death dm. I must say, for a first time demo, the song writing on here is quite good, and the guys play their instruments well. They are not just brutal, but at times create a pretty cool atmosphere or vibe, with their music, that creates a dark and dangerous feeling emotionally. I like that. No, there is nothing groundbreaking here, just a really solid release, which should appease fans of old classic American style of death metal. - Dale

HATEFUL METAL Webzine (Ger)
Bei dem französischen Spezialisten für Untergrund Death Metal muss man von der ursprünglich 2005 erschienen Demo „Le Troubadour Necrophagéophile“ schwer angetan sein. Schließlich wiederveröffentlichte man das Teil erst 2015 auf Kassette, und nun, ein Jahr später, noch mal auf CD. Es handelt sich dabei um die erste Veröffentlichung von OSSUAIRE, und die vier Franzosen spielen verdammten Old School Death Metal der stark an die 90iger erinnert.
OSSUAIRE erzeugen eine morbide und obskure Atmosphäre, resultierend aus dem tiefen, gutturalen Gesang und den gequälten Soli sowie den morbiden Melodien. Der Klang ist einer Demoaufnahme gebührend und so scheppert das Treiben ordentlich und organisch. Mir gefällt es verdammt gut, allen vor der superbe Gesang, dessen organisches Timbre genau mein Ding ist. Im Death Metal steht und fällt bei mir alles mit dem Gesang. Wenn mir die Stimme nicht gefällt wird das Album schnell unhörbar, auch wenn die Musik für sich genommen großartig ist. Andererseits kann ein guter Gesang einiges widergutmachen, wenn es mal musikalisch nicht so klappt. Doch OSSUAIRE haben es gar nicht nötig vom Gesang gerettet werden zu müssen.
„Le Troubadour Necrophagéophile“ ist einerseits dreckig, hart und gemein aber zugleich nicht unmelodisch. Überdies ist auch eine rhythmische Variation gegeben, so wechseln sich schnelle und langsamere Takte miteinander ab. OSSUAIRE treten das Gaspedal zwar gerne voll durch und liefern hohe Geschwindigkeiten ab, verlieren sich aber nicht in monotoner Raserei. Die Tempi sind vielseitig und ergeben im Zusammenspiel mit Melodik und Gesang ein giftiges, brachiales Gebräu.
Mit „Le Troubadour Necrophagéophile“ bekommt der geneigte Hörer bösartigen Old School Death Metal fernab von Mainstream und Perfektion. Ich will mit Namedropping gar nicht erst anfangen, aber natürlich lassen sich deutliche Einflüsse einiger Größen der glorreichen Death-Metal-Historie raus hören. Ich kann diese Wiederveröffentlichung besten Gewissens allen Anhängern unprätentiösen Death Metals empfehlen.

NOCTURNAL BATTLE OF CHARIOTS Webzine (Pol)
Francuska Nihilistic Holocaust co jakiś czas wypuszcza całkiem niezłe kasety (do redakcji dotarła wersja na płycie CD-r - dop.k). Nie inaczej jest tym razem, bo oto mam przed sobą oryginalnie wydany w 2005 roku demos "Le Troubadour Nécrophageophile" Ossuaire. Otrzymujemy tutaj pięć dość brutalnych death metalowych pocisków, które charakteryzuje fajny groove, francuskojęzyczne liryki i generalnie solidny poziom wykonania. Jest to raczej niespecjalnie pogmatwany czy techniczny materiał, utrzymany przeważnie w średnich tempach (chociaż i blast się zdarzy tu i tam). Ossuaire łatwo można wrzucić do szuflady z napisem US death metal z lat 90-ych (np. Brutality), gdzieniegdzie wzbogacony bulgotem w stylu Bolt Thrower i jestem pewien, że tyle powinno wystarczyć za rekomendację. Nie bardzo nawet wiem, co więcej mogę napisać o tej taśmie. Niby demo sprzed 10 lat, kapeli, o jakiej nigdy wcześniej nie słyszałem, ale materiał broni się łatwo, dobrze się go słucha, więc fajnie, że NH postanowiło go wznowić.

FEMFORGACS Webzine (Hungary)
Ha az Ossuaire zenekart kéne bemutatnom a Fémforgács oldalára betévedt olvasónak, akkor most valószínűleg lennék nagy bajban, hiszen a második millenniumi évben alakult francia death metalban „utazó” banda a legkevésbé sem tartozik az ismertebb zenekarok népes táborába. – Ez pedig egyértelmű jele annak, hogy márpedig itt nemes egyszerűséggel is, de egy igazi underground gyöngyszemmel lehet dolgunk. Hiszen a zenekar mindössze egy 2010-ben megjelent albumot tudhat magáénak. Illetve egy 2005-ös kiadású demót. Az egyszámos, egy spliten való szereplést meg már meg sem érdemes említeni.
Ezek után nem is annyira meglepő, hogy a zenekar létezéséről halvány fogalmam sem volt mindaddig, amíg el nem ért hozzám a „Le Troubadour Necrophagéophile” 2005-ös demó 2015-ösített kazetta borítója és egy írott CD. – Na, ez aztán az igazi underground. S valóban. - Ha az egészet egész egyszerűen szeretném leírni pár rövid gondolatban, akkor valami hasonló meglepetés ért engem is, mint az előzőekben emp kollégát a Black Bleeding 2014-es, „A Bright Future” albumával kapcsolatban.
Az első sokk után – 2015-ben egy bézs színű papírra nyomtatott kazettaborító, s kézzel feliratozott CD – kellemes meglepetésben lesz része az embernek.
Ahogy arra már az előzőekből számítani lehetett, itt bizony egy a velejéig romlott és rothadt old-school death metal „anyaggal” lesz dolgunk. – Én mondom, azt a cirka pár évet (egészen pontosan 10!) pedig észre sem lehet venni. - A korai demót idéző remekmű még meg lett fejelve egy intróval. - Azt csak halkan jegyzem meg, hogy még csak elképzelni sem tudom azt, hogy egy underground kiadónak mit is adhat egy 10 éves demó újrakiadása. - Valószínűleg nem vagyok ezzel egyedül. – Ha csak nem egy új album van a láthatáron…
A zene? A korong hallgatása közben nyugodt szívvel konstatálhatja bárki, hogy ez az album, demó, vagy akármi köröket ráver a mostani old-school death metal hordákra. Mondjuk, ha nem is a rajta lévő teljesítményt illetően, hanem sokkalta inkább hangulatában. – A hangzás ráadásul oly’ annyira meg van fertőzve pestissel, annyira mocskos, hogy felér az unalomig – és sokszor az általam is – sokszor magasztalt HM-2-es hangzással.
Szövegvilágát tekintve csak a már jól „megszokott” témák kerültek terítékre: kínzás, vér és furcsa szexuális aberrációk. – Ha meg már úgy is beteg világban élünk és mondjuk a zene hallgatása közben egyszerre több dolgot is szoktunk csinálni, akkor ide szabadidős tevékenységnek tudom ajánlani a könyvforgatást, mégpedig Guillaume Apollinaire Tizenegyezer vesszőjét. – Persze lehet, csak velem van a baj, de ez a zene annyira mocskos, romlott és trágár, mint a már oly’ sokak által dicsőített/rettegett regény. – Valójában maga az Ossuaire által életre keltett muzsika nyersessége, puritánsága miatt is működik igazán.
Így a végére pedig csak azt tudom mondani, hogy aki „bevállalja” a zenekart nem fog csalódni. – Ígérem, hogy működni fog, s nem csak egyszeri hallgatást feltételez.
