I'd say yes
Finland used to bring huge stuff like Demigod or Skepticism but then they invade the planet with god-awful crap like Children of Boredom, Nightwhip, Sodnata Arctica, Lordi, To/Die/For, the 69 Eyes, HIM, Finntroll, even Impaled Nazarene suck. all of these bands get massive metal media attention and success all over Europe. I don't want to be assimilated to this horrible music.

Finnish metal endangers the life and hapinness of millions. it must stop. there are better things in life than Finnish metal. we particularly appeal to the youth of today.

Theres some good bands from Finland like IRRITATE.

GAURITHOTH is a good raw black metal band from Finland.

So is GOATHEMY. They are more of a melodic black metal band thou.

FUNERAL MONGOLOIDS is a interesting noisecore band from Finland.

There are also some cool bands like NERLICH, CHAOS INFINITUM and few others...

I think the good question is: Should Finland bomb G.w. Bush or not?!

for the classics I only know Demigod and Demilich
for more recent stuff I think Nerlich are pretty good

A Finnish opinion to this...

There are/were a huge number of great death metal bands in Finland, but some of them are not that popular. Best of the old and split-up-bands are Demigod, Demilich, Abhorrence, Depravity, Death Metal-era Sentenced, Vomiturition, Xysma, etc.

I don't know that much the situation of brutal death metal in Finland, because my interest is in bands with "older" feeling in it. If you like to get to know better the finnish scene, here's a little advertisement:

Stench of Decay - This is my own band and we play death metal in the vein of the old Scandinavian bands and some American too. We have released a demo cd-r and two songs of it are available for download at www.mikseri.net/sod

Lie In Ruins - Great band with "dirty" feeling and awesome sound! The guitars have the buzzing sound and there are lots of doomy and creepy riffs. Most likely comparisons are Autopsy and "the Swedish bands". Their whole demo is available for download at www.mikseri.net/lieinruins

Bloodsoul - This band's background is a little mystery to me, but they play death metal with a pretty strong Swedish influence. There are two songs available for download at www.mikseri.net/bloodsoul

Nerlich - I think this band needs no introduction! Ask Gab if you want to have it on a comp. cd! Ok, very much influenced by Pestilence, Suffocation and Morbid Angel for example. Some of their songs are available to download at www.mikseri.net/nerlich

Ok, here was a short introduction to Finnish underground death metal scene! No need to bomb Finland just because of "few" wimp bands! Feel free to post comment!

Nerlich is the only band I have heard from your list of current bands....They are really fuckin good thou judging by the tracks I heard on Gabs release!

Finland is one of the best european scene currently, my favorite.
wengele, solitaire, sotajumala, nailgunner, jumalation, malicious death, flame, slugathor, azaghal, horna, satanic warmaster ...and tenhi and many many more...

I haven't heard it that much, but I remember it sounded really brutal and rolling (=almost great). We (Stench of Decay) have sometimes had misunderstangings with Scent of Flesh because of our names!

Have you heard Pyöveli? They play really dirty old-school thrash metal and I think the guys are Solitaire's bass player's cousins. Some songs are available at www.mikseri.net/pyoveli

Mosh Angel is another great thrash/speed metal band with the drummer/singer of Pyöveli and the bass player of Solitaire. Very much Razor, Sacrifice (and other Canadian bands), Sodom and Motörhead influence here! Killer songs available at www.mikseri.net/moshangel Just listen to every song's chorus and you're hooked!

I own a scent of flesh album not the last and nothing interesting to indicate.

Indeed pyöveli is into the oldest chaotic vein ever created in thrash metal, a good point with these screams. Mosh Angel is well Undergrounded with a raw sound but not much convinced. Anyway thanks for the links and so on... Stench of decay humm... i'm just realizing that gabal el poisoning moderator sent me your demo the last week haha...

It seems SLUGATHOR is currently the best finnish underground band...

You might want a listen of the newest Stench of Decay demo, it's easily as good as the Demigod - Unholy Domain demo. (And I'm not just typing this because a member posted a few messages above!)
