Are there any programs that can be downloaded to be able to play CDs backwards? I just want to be able to find out what some of the messages on certain records say (!sU nioJ !sU nioJ). So far I've been using Sound recorder, and recording the sounds through a microphone, but this isn't very clear and it only has the 'increase speed 50%' option (I think Winds of the Black Gods has been slowed down 66.6%, so I can only get it sounding very Russian or very fruity the right way round (I think it's Mozart the Magic Flute??)).

Which bands used backward messages as well? I can think of Venom, Slayer and Demilich at the moment, but any others?

PARADISE LOST also used to have an inversed guitar riff on the "Icon" album, if that counts...

I have a software called Cool Edit which contains a lot of effects, including reversing sound and multi track recording...
I guess many other softwares used to edit wave files could make it

Morbid Angel used an inverted guitar riff as well at the start of Immortal Rites. I wonder if anyone ever played a whole song backwards? Or maybe played the instrument/riffs backwards, then used a sound recorder to invert it the correct way round again? (or maybe that's just more work than neccesary?)

It would clearly be a pain in the ass to play a whole song backward with a guitar... (Unless you play in Darkthrone or used to be called Kurt cobain)... I think no one ever did that during a whole song... If your music is a bit more complex than 4/4 it would be quite hard to play all the little details in reverse way... Wouldn't it?
Tonight I'll speak with Chuck Shuldiner in my dreams and ask if he can play a song from "Individual thought patterns" in reverse ah ah

I would be difficult to play backwards and get the exact same result as far as timing goes as when it had been played forwards, but it might create an interesting effect at least.
There were always some albums from Morrisound during the early 90's that had strange sounding drums, almost as if the cymbals were going backwards. I'd need to check to see which albums they were from though.
