| Gonna go generic and say MoP, it was one of the first thrash albums I heard and to this day I still know it like the back of my hand. | |

| Difficult to choose. I said RTL, not because I think it's the best musically, but it was the first Metallica tape I ever bought and it has nostalgic value for me. _______________________ http://codzine.net print zine #18 out now

| The four album are awesome but I have chosen Kill Em All because basically it's the only METALLICA album where I like all the songs (there is two or three tunes that suck totally on Ride IMO and one on MoP). | |

Yeah, that's a good point. There are always Metallica songs that I need to skip over. I'm terribly sick of some of the songs on Kill Em All though, only because I have heard them so many times over the years. I rediscovered it recently, though, after not listening to it for a long time. _______________________ http://codzine.net print zine #18 out now

Not me. I recall buying Load when it came out and it depressed me horribly, because Metallica was still one of my favorite bands when I was in high school, and I just said, "what the fuck is this shit?" when I heard that... I still haven't heard any of St Anger. Then I went about ten years without listening to any Metallica, even the first few albums... I listened to Death Magnetic when it came out and thought it was terrible, as well. I can listen to the first 4 albums again now though (well, mainly just certain songs, some songs I always skip). I used to have everything on tape and vinyl, and loads of bootlegs and video and so on, but I got rid of all that. I was in the fanclub when I was in high school, too, heh... _______________________ http://codzine.net print zine #18 out now

| Hard choice, really, but I choose Kill Em All, each track are perfect ! (RTL have shitty track like Escape, AJFA have Eye of the Beholder) Master is perfect too but I prefer Kill em All...
The last one, Death magnetic, is not so bad, some good guitar riffs or melodies, but there are few "gay riffs" like on St Anger...

I haven't seen much talk about "Death Magnetic" anywhere, I wanna check this album out. _______________________ SKULLFUCKINGMETAL DISTRO/LABEL. I wrote a very hateful review of it here. I just pretend they all died shortly before the black album, it's easier for me that way. _______________________ http://codzine.net print zine #18 out now

No I hate what they recorded after the Black Album (i dont like much this record too but it is better than the following ones). Also I hate how James sings now, with his yoghourt vocals, when he sings old songs it just sucks ass !!

| You are right men, James voice after the Black album is very bad, too much "aaaahhh" or "yeeeaaaaahhh".... To me, his best voice is on "Garage Days" EP (AJFA era), very hateful and raw !!! Seriously, Death magnetic is a cool album (ok, it's not the quality of the 80's) But I'm not very objective with this band (I like Load or Reload too ) | |

same here, except that mine was a copy of a friend's tape those were the days!!! these guys were my gods. Kirk's guitar was my holy grail, try to play like him was the meaning of my life. then came the Loads. it took me a few more years to completely give up though. like slowly but surely... _______________________ si tu te réveilles un matin sans avoir mal nulle part, c'est que tu es mort. It was the case for me too!

| But now Kirk is the worst musician in the band, for sure ! Even Lars do a better job than Kirk ! Their nowadays level it's a real shame ! | |

| I think the only ones who still play decently are James and Rob. Lars is ridiculous, he is one of the most overrated drum players of all times, and Kirk has a good guitar level but he does not care anymore about training so he does lots of errors.
At least the guys of SLAYER still remember how to play correctly their songs...

| hem, neither Jeff or Kerry have written a good solo since 1990 in my opinion. they're still tight riffers though.
I don't find Kirk has regressed, he's just overshadowed by a fuckton of more technical guitarists. it's like Trey Azagthoth : he was considered the god of death metal guitar, now people say he sucks compared to the Necrophagist bloke or whoever.
on the other hand, Lars has really really regressed. his fills are horrible, his double bass plain awful. he'd be a better fit in AC/DC... if Phil Rudd wasn't much better than him. _______________________ si tu te réveilles un matin sans avoir mal nulle part, c'est que tu es mort. SLIP NEVER RUSTS

Yeah I think Lars is more a rock drummer than metal, regarding on how he plays but he sucks now, he should stop the drums.
fuckin asshole. | |
