| Lets think about some under rated bands. I find that alot of Canadian bands are very under rated, espically thrash metal bands from the 1980s. Why didn't bands like Razor, Exciter, Anvil & Piledriver get as huge as the "The Big 4" in USA being Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer? Is it a location issue? Is it a hair-doo situation? Is it major label bullshit that was/is the issue? Also, there is alot of old Canadian Death Metal bands that are tottaly overlooked. But its nice too see these days some Canadian death metal bands gaining talk/hype and record sales such as Adversarial & Begrime Exemious. _______________________ SKULLFUCKINGMETAL DISTRO/LABEL. | As far as I know, Exciter had their moment of glory...
Piledriver wasn't considered as a serious band... Wasn't it a subproject? _______________________ Cadaveric ringtones for free, just click: http://nihilistic-webzine-distro.fr

| Sadist from Italy are very much underrated, I think. Voivod have a cult status but should be bigger!I could think of more cult/underrated acts like Nocturnus, Coroner...but they either haven't done anything for decades or ruined their reputation after a crap reunion album, so it's nothing shocking...As for Canadian death bands, I don't know anything outside Quebec/Montreal...(but granted I'm an underground philistine) _______________________ si tu te réveilles un matin sans avoir mal nulle part, c'est que tu es mort. Piledriver wasn't considered as a serious band... Wasn't it a subproject? Piledriver is a serious band man, its just they didn't start playing live untill a few years ago, why this is im not sure. Last time I saw Piledriver was Oct 29th 2010, they were cool enough to play a gig of mine with my band as well as Demontage, Midnight Malice & Winterfilth. What a great show it was! There is a new Piledriver CD out soon on Sick Fuck Records, its a live recording from a show in Cochrane, Ontario on Oct 30th 2010. SFM Distro will for sure be getting copies in. I could probally trade you a copy if you are interested Gab _______________________ SKULLFUCKINGMETAL DISTRO/LABEL. | in my opinion, a local sludge band - fistfight is highly udnerrated. granted they havent played any shows outside the province, and are kinda slow to do shit, but iunno. i really like them.. really violent raw sludge. _______________________ never stop the madness!

| I think some bands are underrated because they are not distributed widely enough. Some bands are ahead of their time. Some bands like to stay under the radar. So many reasons. _______________________ Holy shit! You see that fucking head come apart man? I've never seen brains like that before man!

| Insanity deserved more, definitely. Blood Money, Exmortis, Mutilated, RU Dead?, Martyrium + many many more... But it seems as though appreciation for these old bands is much higher than when they were still around even. Perhaps the under-rated bands are not the ignored ones of the past, but the under appreciated ones today? eg, I think Kaamos were much better than most of the well known pioneers of Swedish Death Metal (certainly lyrically), yet they just seem to get tagged as 'old-school Swedish Death metal ala Entombed' without acknowledgement that they were anything more than that? (certainly not some boring Sunlight studio clone...) | |
