| SALEM UK: cover, tracklist and first single from “Outer Limits”
Following the signing announcement for Rude Awakening Records, SALEM UK is now ready to unveil the first details about upcoming album “Outer Limits”. This release is inspired by Hull Fair, which takes place in the band’s home town. It is the biggest travelling fair in Europe, officially launched in 1279; it’s a historical event where visitors can find any kind of ride. Each track title of “Outer Limits” has a carnival element and many are named after one of the rides, bringing the carnival theme to the whole album.
Quotes:
Simon Saxby (Vocals) Probably the best recording sessions we’ve done—certainly the most relaxed we’ve been in the creative process. The biggest and best surprises usually came in the form of Adrian’s cooking skills. I would gladly walk to Hull for one of his curries!!! All in all though it was a good experience getting back in the studio: can’t wait to do it again!!
Adrian Jenkinson (Bass guitar/Production)
I never thought I would be involved in a “concept” album! The recording process was a lot of fun; Simon and I had a couple of attacks of the giggles, and I think this joyful aspect comes through in some of the tracks. Jonny and Dan made the recording process easy, which meant we were free to focus on creativity. I hope you like the result!
Jonny Hirons (Guitar)
Out of the many recording experiences I have had so far it was one of the more relaxed and experimental times, trying out sounds, amps, pedals, guitars and pickups. In the past I used no more than three guitars for a full session where this time I used up to six with a mix of active and passive pickups along with a mix of solid state and valve amps.
The creative process was interesting; Ady and I were able to come up with new ideas that came from existing ones, rather than recreating a demo verbatim. Overall it was a fun experience, and I look forward to making the next album.
Dan Ellis (Drums)
The recording process seemed to go well and were able to add our own take/opinions on the way we thought the songs should go. Obviously, we all have our own ideas and each of us brought something unique to the table, sometimes taking a song in a different direction: no idea we gave was a bad idea—just a different one. This is my first album cycle with Salem UK, and it went very smoothly.
This album will represent the second release for Salem UK under this monicker: their beginnings can be dated to the golden era of NWOBHM during the early 80s, while the debut album featuring founding members Adrian Jenkinson and Simon Saxby was released in 2019.
“Rock You” is the first single from the new album: https://youtu.be/beQOR23ubVA
