FUCK THE FARTS Sign With RELAPSE RECORDS - Apr. 14, 2006
Relapse Records has announced the signing of Ottawa, ON's grind/metal powerhouse FUCK THE FARTS. FUCK THE FARTS is currently recording their new full-length album, entitled "Stigmata High-Five", at Studio En-Phase in Montreal for a late summer release. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "La Dernière Image", "The Wrecking", "Carve Your Heart Out", "Taken From The Nest", "What’s Left Behind", "The Sound of Your Smashed Head" and "Dead In The Ruins of Your Own City". In the meantime, a pre-production demo of "Taken From The Nest" can be heard here.

"There's no doubt we're hyped about working with Relapse, a label that has been a huge influence on us for years now," stated guitarist/founding member Topon Das. "Bands like BRUTAL TRUTH, DISRUPT, and more have kept us excited about music and motivated to create on our own. To join such an open minded and professional label is truly something great. We're also happy to help Relapse maintain their streak of signing bands named after NAKED CITY songs."

Maybe it will be easier for me to sell all the FUCK THE FACTS demos I have in the distro

I don't know what to think... I have only demo releases of this band dating bak to few years... and some were almost noise/ grind noise... Maybe their album stuffs are more professional/ efficient...

I hear you. I had alot of FUCK THE FACTS stuff sit in my distro for many years when they were still next to unheard of. They released alot of D.I.Y. noise split tapes.

But they're cool guys, Topon the founding member agreed to play a live show in my living room at my old house in Trenton, but the show never ended up happening because cops kept showing up at my place, too many parties. But yeah all FUCK THE FACTS wanted was some pizza.

I just find it weird when D.I.Y. style bands sign to big labels. Because then they loose all control over ever putting out self released recordings ever again. Know what I mean man ?

Well, maybe they were bored with DIY and wanted to make something bigger... I mailed the guy of F.T.F who runs a label/ distro several times for trades... no answer... Then I sent few stuffs for free... No answer...
Maybe they don't give a fuck anymore about DIY releases!

I dunno. It's cool if a band wants to start making money and sign to a big label, but it's not cool if they start to forget about those whom helped distribute their DIY releases and helped promote their projects.

I sent Topon from FTF my zine as well to be added to their promo list upon request and I have recieved no promos to review from them.

Maybe these fuckers don't realize that it costs me more to print one issue of my zine then it costs them to print one pro cd.

G: I'm not sure at all if what you say is right... And that's not the same thing: the price per unit decreases with the a total amount of copies... Since you don't have a 1000 run of zines...

K: To mail and print each zine, it costs me approx. $3.50. If he was to send me a promo cdr that costs about $2 tops. If it is a pro printed cd taht was made in 1000+ runs, maybe cost $1.50. Know what I mean?

so it's strongly possible he said sthg like "what's the use of sending a promo for a so short review"

You can be sure that some label makers would think this way... I had this kind of feedback with my second paper issue, while my reviews and interviews were a little bit short... So it should be better with The SECOND KEEKEE ASSAULT! :firedevil:

Trust me, they are longer in issue #2. Most of them are at least 8-10 sentences long now. With more words to describe each band. Etc.

I respect your honest opinion Gab and really appreciate it! If everyone said "yeah man its a great zine" then how would I know how to improve it?

Is there any copies of your printed zine laying around your place by any chance? I would love to see it man!

Maybe you should change the artist or give him more money for your second issue, because the cover drawing doesn't look the best!

I have some copies of an almost finished fanzine (Issue 5 I think) I did in 2002-2003... All the content is on my webzine.
I think I have very few copies of #2 from 1998, but it should be the French version (Their was an english version, and a french one )

I would love to use a drawing of yours for issue #2 man!

Let me know if this interests you and if you have anything laying around that would be suitable for the zine.

Most artists do think that there own work sucks man! True artists that is, the ones that draw for fun, and not for the money.

Ok, I'm not against it, that's cool.

I'll have a look at the stuffs I have in stock, that might decorate the inside or even cover of your zine.

I think my drawings and everything I did/ do really lack of professionalism... It's not well finished, not perfectly visually focused... So many peoples aren't interested, even for a demo release!
But that's no real problem with me...

But that's no real problem with me...

It's cool because my zine isn't about professionalism what so ever so no worries about that my friend!

I would love to have some of your art included inside the zine as well.
