MANIAC (Sven-Erik Kristiansen), former vocalist of the legendary Norwegian Black Metal band MAYHEM, is planning a return to the scene - fronting his own band SKITLIV.
At the forefront of Black Metal from it's very beginnings, MANIAC, one of the extreme metal genre's most recognisable figures - whose controversial live performances are much favoured by Documentary film makers, has been writing new material for SKITLIV. Material which, whilst essentially still firmly rooted in Black Metal, has matured and evolved into something much darker, and more brooding, than anything he has produced before.
Work is progressing well on SKITLIV's first album (with the working title "Humanity Has Lost All Pride"), and will continue until the end of the year, ready for a 2007 release. A label is currently being sought, and the band is anticipating performing and touring sometime in the latter part of next year. You can listen to three raw mix samples on the band's web page at www.myspace.com/skitliv777
MANIAC is also collaborating (vox & lyrics) with DANIEL JANSSON on some tracks for the new DEADWOOD album, scheduled for release on the UK's COLD SPRING label in early 2007 (info@coldspring.co.uk).
MANIAC'S previous bands include Mayhem, Bomberos, Voluspa, Septic Cunts, Totenkopf, Vernichtung, Status Fatal, and he has appeared on albums by Wurdulak, Gorelord, Audiopain, Necrophagia, Magenta, Red Harvest, Babylon Whores.
