I think about maybe closing the distro website for 1 week or something... Maybe few peoples would react?

Maybe it's not so "cooool" and totally in to order from yours or my distro... Lately I sent 150 distro lists on paper to some peoples who used to order... 1 month later, I receive only 2-3 feedbacks??!
That's really not motivating to have more stuffs for the distro, to move your ass to have more good or hard to find stufs and to make an effort to makes things better, prices cheaper etc!
I'm really less and less interested in ordering some stuffs wholesale, even if I'm sure to sell it...

I understand Gab! Most of my orders come from repeat customers and alot of those times they are buying the more well known professional cds like Emperor Dark Throne Neuraxis Summoning etc...

I hardly ever sell cdrs but alof of the times good demos are released this way.

I sell alot of demo tapes, only if I write down the year it was released in the information listing...So if the demo tape is from the 1990's, it normally sells. Newer demo tapes don't really move that much.

When I first started the distro 6 years ago, I spent thousands of dollars on buying wholesale. I didn't make anything from doing this, not my intentions to make money but I also work to hard to loose lots of money.

Anyways, these days I refrain from buying large amounts of anything as I am scared that it will sit in my house for way to long and then end up in the Skullfuckingmetal bargin bin so to speak.

People seem to like buying 7ers as well, but not so much lps because of the high shipping rates on a lp.

maybe we aren't cool enough to order from Gab!

About sending the paper distro list, that sucks man, as that must of cost you alot of money to do so. I used to have a paper list, but I can't afford to make one as its bloody expensive!

Yes, there are a bunch of stuffs I would definitely like to have on tapes for my collection! Thats the kind of stuffs I happen to order from some distros... I always tried to have more stuffs, and from more "well-known" bands, hoping more peoples would be interested, but it do not really change... Always more and more stock...

I even did a big cleaning of my distro, selling many demos for 2 euros postpaid! (Couldn't be much cheaper) and I received something like 4-5 orders... Result: I don't see much difference and there are still many stuffs everywhere

Running a distro right now isn't exactly fun!
You have to do so much compromises, almost to react like a selling businessman who would do anything (understand compromise) to sell by moments... Sometimes I feel peoples wouldn't be interested even if we gave the stuffs for free! (Some french local "metal heroes" even refuse when you want to give them your releases for FREE! What the fuck?? And then we should support their band?

Maybe you're better off just trading your awesome releases against other labels releases, and then base your distro by these releases. This way you can control your stock more as you only have the one master+covers. Just a idea. At least you won't be spending as much money to over stock your room!

Your releases are top notch quality and the word is sure out there that Nihilistic Holocaust releases are worth looking into!

Yeah man, at 2 euros a tape you can't go fucking wrong!

Your right! I feel like a buisnessman man at times, and that is not how I want to feel. Buisnessmen are in it for the money, and I am not running a distro or a zine to make money, so yeah, I don't want to feel that way!

But it does feel good making new contacts that want to support the true underground distros. They are out there, sometimes they are just hiding under a rock or something!

Well, I almost never buy stuffs wholesale, except for some Eps or CDs releases I think (thought?) would sell Ok, without problem in few months...
Most of the stuffs I have in the list are trades! (I send many packages )

I know my releases don't suck, but it's always the same problem: if I don't sell enough stuffs in from the distro, and keep accumulating so many stuffs... Whats the use of keeping on trading? And it costs a lot of money to send all this!

And if all the other distros who receive my stuffs also have problems to sell the stuffs... My releases would remain in some overtocks for months and months... So what's the use of sending it?
I'm not really sure it's really useful to do so many trades to spread the stuffs... For exemple, two years ago I send master + covers of my releases to a distro carrying tapes... 2 months ago he stopped the distro and traded me all his tapes stock... In the package he sent me back most of the covers of my releases I sent 2 years ago! It seems he only sold 2 copies in two years!!

I hear that. I work full time, and as soon as I get home from work, I am working on making the zine better or the distro. SO basically I work from 7am to 11pm everday of the week!

Interesting Gab! Hmmm...about your releases, I have sold a couple yes. I trade more of them then I sell, but that is ok, I don't mind this.

Maybe if you started making your releases more limited pressings, then people would pay more attention to them? Look at your RAMMER release, I bet you there is a ton of Canadians that would love a copy of that demo tape now as they are semi-celebrities here in Canada. Know what I mean?

Same thing will probally happen with OPPRESSION. Everyone will want their demo in a couple of years when they break threw even more.

But, on the other hand. If you didn't make so many copies of your releases then maybe I would never of heard all of these bands! With the really raw black metal demos that come out and are limited editions of 333 copies, thats cool because there is probally only 333 people in the entire world that would be interested anyways lol. But with the death and thrash metal releases, there is more of a audience so such limitations might not be a good thing!

Also Gab, think about this. Everything you have in your distro, will probally be sold in like 10 years. The reason why is because people seem to like buying demos from the early 1990's esp. on ebay, so in another 10 years these releases will be considered underground gold! I guess maybe it's just a matter of remaining patient and deadicated, and maybe slow down on a bit and be more picky on whom you trade with. I noticed that you are really supportive with trading for other releases, maybe you should only start trading your releases against stuff that you are sure will sell, kind of like treating it like wholesale.

Yes as long as there is still some orders, thats the main thing!

I guess its a matter of mind set as well. Some days are more frustrating then others, and then sometimes there will be several orders in one month. It's funny like that!

Well, I don't run the distro to make money and have cult items in 10 years... I run a distro because I'm obliged to do that to spread my releases! Unless I could do only something like 40-50... So, as you know it well, there are only trades and trades... And face it: since I choose quite deep underground bands, it's almost not possible to sell it wholesale to other distros...

I want to promote the bands on my releases, that's all...

Didn't know RAMMER are somekind of celebrities in Canada... didn't pay much attention since their later releases sounds less interesting than "Incinerator"...

On my part, I traded/ given for "free" a bunch of PAGAN RITES master + 3-4 covers to several distros... So that there aren't 30-40 covers sleeping in there (I also got some copies of this demo from the band )

Well I know for sure that your releases are promoting the bands as I have read reviews everywhere about your releases and have seen them in many peoples distro lists.

Look at it this way. Because you released OPPRESSION stuff I got in contact with Tor and now OPPRESSION was interviewed for my zine.

Yeah RAMMER is one of Canada's biggest buzz bands right now! They are opening the "day of the equinox" show that is comming this August with a SACRIFICE re-uniuon show! That is pretty big time! Plus there is alot of talk about them and their latest release "Cancer". I liked it alot.

Yeah its pretty fuckin good man! But I have yet to hear their other releases so I can't compare it to their previous albums.

I would love to but I don't know how to make a new section to choose for cdrs.

I didn't make my webpage, so I don't know how to make it better!

All I can do is basic html as it is allready set up for me, I just add the titles. I wish I could seperate the cdrs thou!
