DEICIDE Guitarist: 'We Are NOT Cancelling Spain Or Anywhere Else On This Tour
DEICIDE has vowed to play the previously announced Spanish dates despite the decision by the local promoter, Matarile, to withdraw its involvement in the shows.
Matarile, the agency in charge of promoting the gigs on the Spanish leg of the current DEICIDE European tour, released a statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET earlier today (Thursday, January 11) announcing that it was "cancelling" the three shows due to the absence from the tour of the group's bassist/vocalist Glen Benton. "Matarile regrets to report the decision of cancelling these shows to avoid that part of the Spanish fans could feel disappointed and deceived," the company said in the statement.
Within a couple of hours of Matarile's original statement being published on the pages of this site, DEICIDE guitarist Ralph Santolla contacted BLABBERMOUTH.NET to say that the band will attempt to play all dates as scheduled, despite any reports to the contrary.
"DEICIDE is NOT cancelling Spain or anywhere else on this tour," Santolla told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "Matarile is not our booking agent, just a local promoter with no ties to DEICIDE. We are moving the venues in Spain and the new ones will be announced tomorrow [Friday, January 12]. We've had very large turnouts and great gigs so far, and we will play the full tour. We expect Glen to join us as soon as his situation allows."
As previously reported, Seth van Loo (SEVERE TORTURE, NOX, CENTURION) handled the vocal duties for the first four dates of DEICIDE's European tour. Beginning with this past Tuesday night's (January 9) concert in Manchester, England, Garbaty "Yaha" from the Polish death metal band DISSENTER joined DEICIDE on bass/vocals and is scheduled to perform all shows until Benton is able to rejoin the trek.
