| Wound up watching The Stranglers Of Bombay today. Not a horror film in the strictest sense of the word, but it is a Hammer production and some of the studio's trademark style is evident. Not too mention it's pretty brutal for a film from 1959 with some gore that by today's standards would seem pretty tame but back then I'm sure it had audiences freaking the fuck out. | |

Mine is "Plague Of The Zombies" Ditto. I love that flick. it's the perfect hybrid between the old school Haitian voodoo type and the the flesh eater variety. But it's a close call because there are some truely outstanding films that give POTZ a run for its money: The Devil Rides Out; Twins Of Evil; Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed; Brides Of Dracula...all get high praise from me.

The Devil Rides Out, Didn't I sell you that one? :heinnn: No, that's not the one ya sold me. That was To The Devil A Daughter. Both of those films however were based on novels by Dennis Wheatley. The Devil Rides Out was part of Anchor Bay's Hammer series but is now OOP. I may be able to get a dvdr of a vhs rip for ya. I noticed on ebay that it's available as a DVD double feature along with Rasputin The Mad Monk. Twins Of Evil doesn't have a legit R1 DVD release (though there is a very rare VHS release from the mid eighties.) Again, might be able to get ya a copy. Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed is still easily available both as a single disc and in various box sets from Warner Brothers, and is the grimmest, darkest of the Hammer Frankenstein films. Brides Of Dracula is available from Universal as part of a 8 film/2 disc set called The Hammer Horror Series.

Dead and Breakfast What did you think of this movie?
I wasn't too sure of it, but I have only watched it once and was drunk when I did so. I thought it was funny.

Dead & Breakfast was pretty entertaining. I'm assuming by the box, you mean the lenticular slip case? Last Halloween MGM reissued some of their horror titles at sell-through prices and they came with the same lenticular slip cases. The Carrie one looks awesome. Tonight I'm gonna watch

Actually, it's been awhile since I watched it but bits and pieces of dialogue are stuck in my memory. The setting was effective but the premise rubbed me wrong for some reason.

I can't remember all of them but there was Jeepers Creepers, Jeepers Creepers 2, The Howling, Child's Play, The Fog (original), and The Amityville Horror. I know there were others but I just can't remember what.

What did you think of these movies Rusty? I thought the first one wasn't terrible (God knows I've sat through worse), and I was pleasantly suprised by the bleak ending. But ultimately it's a fairly forgetable film. I never bothered with the sequel. The trailer alone looked bad enough. By the way Keeg, I know you mentioned that you were into checking out some Hammer Films so this more or less pertains to you. If you think about buying a second hand copy of Anchor Bay's Frankenstein Created Woman, insist that they play it at the store or give you a full return warranty. Apparantly early pressings were defective and the disc would quickly deteriorate in both picture and sound quality to the point that you can barely see/hear what's going on. By the way, anyone have a copy of I Monster on DVD they wanna get rid of?

| Tonite: MURDER ROCK aka DANCING DEATH (Fulci) GHOST OF SODOMA (Fulci) FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 3 - my absolute favourite F13 installment. Where did Jason get those GAP dockers he wears in this one? And Keegan - I highly recommend DREAMSCAPE, smth tells me you'll dig it; will burn you a copy too if you wish. | |
